The fossilized remains of humans struck down by ash are the most powerful reminder of mother nature's unbridled power.

Journey directly to the top of Vesuvius aboard the comfortable Vesuvio Express shuttle bus, with pick-up and drop-off at Herculaneum. It's by far the easiest and fastest route to the crater.

Vesuvio Express Timetable

The Vesuvio Express schedule is really easy to remember. The bus departs every 40 minutes from Herculaneum Railway Station, starting at 09:30. The final departure is indicated by the Vesuvio Express closing time on this page.

Instructions

• Show your smartphone ticket to the staff at the meeting point: Ercolano, Piazzale Stazione Circumvesuviana
• The staff will give you a paper voucher before getting on the bus. You will be also able to select the available departure time with the staff, the departure is selected according to the time of the entrance ticket
• Please arrive 15 minutes before the departure time at the meeting point
• Buses run every hour. There is luggage storage available on-site
• After your visit, you can hop on the Vesuvio Express bus back to Herculaneum where you hop off, at Piazzale Gran Cono
